Melbourne Port Licence Fee

As a result of the introduction of “The Port Management Amendment (Port of Melbourne Corporation Licence Fee) Bill 2011” by the Victorian Government, The Port of Melbourne Corporation has imposed a Port Licence Fee on Import / Export cargo as from the 1st July 2012 as part of their review of port charges.

A Port Licence Fee of AUD35 per TEU will apply on import / export containers handled through the Port of Melbourne as from 1st July 2012.

The new Port Licence Fee (PLF) will be shown as a separate entry on your Import or Export invoice and is subject to GST. The revised charge will apply as follows:

Imports - Based on “Arrival Date” in Melbourne on or after the 1st July 2012.

Exports - Based on “Shipped On-board” date on or after the 1ST July 2012.

The policy of SOS being when such increases occur they are passed on to our clients at cost. Please take note for all future costings and budgeting purposes.
