Declaration Of Hazardous Cargo

2nd July, 2012

Region Asia – Declaration of Hazardous Cargo

We would like to remind you that it is the responsibility of the shipper to declare whether cargo is either hazardous (with the corresponding UN number / IMO class and cargo details) or non hazardous as required at time of booking.

It is also the responsibility of the shipper to ensure that all data submitted to the carrier at time of booking is identical to the declarations provided to the respective authorities at time of export declaration.

Should the cargo be identified as being mis-declared as non hazardous cargo at time of booking Hapag-Lloyd reserves the right to request a complete set of hazardous documentation including a copy of the Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS).

Any mis-declared cargo will be subject to an administration fee of USD 1000 in addition to any and all operational costs incurred, the difference in freight charges and any and all possible fines and costs incurred through the mis-declaration of cargo.

Such mis-declaration when identified, will also be reported to the relevant authorities. Hapag-Lloyd reserves the right to report any non-declaration of Dangerous Goods to other carriers and members of CINS (Cargo Incident Notification System) by using the CINSNET platform in the internet.
